Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were. But without it we go nowhere.
Image of magazine spread featuring picture of clown fish
The concept for this project was inspired by the 5th Grade Science curriculum. My students study oceanography and ocean layers. I was inspired to create my own textbook page based on the content.
The overall layout features an image of organisms that live in the sunlight zone. The color palette also stays bright and vivid to mimic the light and life in that zone.
Project Outcome
Adobe Photoshop
The image is a stock photo from Shutterstock. I removed the background to eliminate distractions. It also allowed me to place the image at the bottom of the page and wrap the text around it.
Adobe InDesign
I love using InDesign to layout magazine spreads. It allows me to wrap the text easily around the images. It also allowed me to add gradient background colors to mimic the light travelling deeper into the ocean water.
